A vintage carronade day date automatic mans wrist watch in good working order serviced was a little fast, adjusted and now keeps good time dial is marked Carronade automatic, ‘T Swiss Made T’. Back cover reads ‘stainless steel back – Swiss made – Antichoc’ 10632.
The day date functions perfectly either can be changed independently and it changes slowly between 11.35pm and just after midnight.
Inside, the movement confirms 25 Jewels, Swiss-made, I am not an expert but the jewel looks in good condition, clean. There are numbers that look like 2789 under the balance – not being familiar with this watch at all I don’t want to open it at this point.

This is my regular daily-wear watch when I’m not wearing one of the others, it really is a lovely piece.
I am still trying to find more on this history of these but they appear to be made for a jewelers company that bought H. Samuel amongst others between 1949 and the only others I can find say 1950s (ladies 17 jewel) and 1960s I would guess this to be late 60s although it could be more modern.
Having seen a ladies carrondade at auction, I’m guessing from the serial on the back and what I know of the company history it is possibly 632 / 1000.
Someone has suggested Carronade may have used a Valjoux or Landeron movement, both good movements, although I would love to hear comments from anyone who knows more.
Cleaned and serviced Nov 2011 – it didn’t really need it but I hadn’t done & it others were going in so better in case anyone wants to buy it I feel better selling it knowing it has been serviced.
